Technical training on ecological surveys for Project Snow Leopard

Technical training on ecological surveys for Project Snow Leopard was held at Deban, Namdapha Tiger Reserve on 1st and 2nd March as a part of Project Snow Leopard (PSL) & Snow Leopard Population Assessment in India (SPAI).

Technical sessions on Snow Leopard conservation (Establish status of habitat and population of Snow Leopard in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Western Himalaya & Manage human-wildife conflict), Distribution, status and spatiotemporal changes of Snow Leopard and other high altitude wildlife in Arunachal Pradesh, Surveying snow leopards and wild ungulate population were taken by resource persons of WWF-India. Use of Camera traps and GPS device to survey Snow Leopard habitat were taught practically and thoroughly. The training was attended by field staff, research personnel's and officers of Namdapha Tiger Reserve, Kamlang Tiger Reserve and Anini Forest Division. 

The field staffs from all three divisions also shared their knowledge and experience on the Snow Leopard, other wildlife and habitat of their respective protected areas.

Namdapha TR is thankful to Arunachal Pradesh State Forest Department for arranging the training and WWF-India's resource persons Rishi Sharma sir, Kamal Medhi sir, Rohan Pandit sir, Janki ma'am, Pemba sir and Dechin ma'am for taking intense practical and theoretical sessions. 

Looking forward to explore Snow Leopard habitats in days to come.
